Getting Married on Taveuni Island Fiji

As with other locations in Fiji, getting married in Taveuni requires you to obtain a marriage license. This can be obtained from the local registry office in Taveuni and usually your resort, hotel or lodging in Taveuni will be able to provide you with full details. Since the office is closed at the weekend and on public holidays, then you will need to allow enough time for this. Planning ahead and communicating with your destination prior to arriving in Taveuni will ensure things go smoothly. The cost of the license is $20 Fiji dollars and is valid for twenty one days from issue. Again, your Taveuni accommodation operator will assist with arrangements for obtaining a licence, often including this legality as part of a special Taveuni wedding package.

Legal documents you will need to bring with you
You will, of course, need to bring some legal papers with you. These are nothing out of the ordinary, but similar to what you would be expected to produce if you were marrying in your own country. However, they do need to be in English.
  • Valid Passports
  • Your Original or Certified Copy of your Birth Certificates
  • If you are under 21 years of age, then you will need a witnessed consent of your father (or mother if your father is deceased)
  • If you are divorced, then please ensure you bring your divorce papers
  • If you are widowed - you will need the death certificate of your former spouse
